TG Lurgan’s sole mission is to encourage engagement with Gaeilge using popular music. Our YouTube channel is the world’s leading minority language channel. All of our content has been produced in a voluntary capacity and is not monetized in any way.

One goal for 2K18 is to publish several original songs and give them the full TG Lurgan production treatment. Our students have shown time and time again that firm favourites sound just as good as Gaeilge when produced to the highest standards.

We are issuing an open invitation to composers of all ages, who would work with TG Lurgan with the aim of producing quality original songs as Gaeilge.

For those who would like to partake but who might feel that their level of Gaeilge might be a barrier, we say they need not worry as Irish Language lyrics are modified as projects evolve. A creative, engaging original score is by far the most important component.

We are ambitious and aim to publish some “earworms” that will get stuck in people’s heads. We are keenly aware that there are talented, creative individuals in our midst and this is an attempt to reach out and invite them to collaborate with us. The factors that make a song popular and likeable are catchy choruses, unforgettable riffs and hooks that stick in your head.

These components are elusive to most except the creative few who can conjure up original melodic fragments that inspire and stir the imagination.

If this call for exciting original materials is of interest to you. please reach out to us at (foinn is the Irish word for “tunes”) or by using the contact form on this page.

We have a fantastic music production team of sound engineers, percussion specialists, music teachers & musicians. We also have enthusiastic talented teenagers who have shown time and time again that that firm favourites sound just as good as Gaeilge when produced to the highest standards.

Most importantly we have the time and space over a three-week course for projects to evolve and develop.

What’s needed is the key, essential element – Creative Originality.

Ideas, demos, outlines, drafts, tunes, melodies can be recorded on smart phones and sent to or you can just reach out to us if you feel you can contribute to the endeavour.

We aim to take as broad an outlook as possible and obtain the widest variety of potential ideas. There isn’t any set procedure other than to do what it takes to bring promising ideas to completion.

The crucial part in the process is recognising and settling on the framework of a song on which to build a project – The diamond in the rough. Once this is established, the fun part begins.

Building tracks, incorporating instruments, perfecting lyrics, practicing & recording vocals, choreographing videos and finally shooting a music video creates a huge buzz. We are aiming to produce 3 original projects on each of our 4 summer courses.

Chosen composers will be invited to collaborate with our music production team to initially produce a draft/framework of the song. They will have a hands-on input during all production stages and will be fully credited with the songs composition.
