The most important behavioural rule. Riail na Gaeilge is the condition of enrolment governing students language behaviour while attending Coláiste Lurgan. A student is in breach of Rial na Gaeilge if (s)he deliberately / knowingly engages in a conversation that is totally in English where no attempt is made to incorporate any Gaeilge into the conversation. In case where a student is not adhering to Riail na Gaeilde the following steps are implemented:
The Principal or vice-Principal of the Colaiste will contact parents / guardians and inform them that their child is not complying with Riail na Gaeilge.
Parents / Guardians will be asked to speak to their child and inform them that they will have to leave the cúrsa Gaeilge if they are found once again to be in breach of Riall na Gaeilge.
Following this consultation where a student would again disregard Riail na Gaeilge, the Principal or Vice-Principle will contact parents in order to make arrangements for student’s departure from the cúrsa Gaeilge..
Possible applicants who lack the motivation, interest or goodwill towards speaking Gaeilge and who cannot appreciate the educational benefits of a self-imposed restriction on the use of English are unsuitable candidates and should not apply.
