Coláiste Lurgan has developed a set of safety practices in its day to day operation which are used to ensure
the highest standards of safety for all our students.
General Safety
Students are required to follow strictly the instructions of múinteoirí mná tí and cúntóirí at all times while:
- Travelling between the Coláiste and Teach Lóistín
- Crossing roads.
- Entering, alighting from and using the bus.
- Participating during swimming periods and water sports.
Should a student deliberately disregard important safety instructions, the Coláiste will not hesitate to return responsibility for the individual to his/her parents.
Rules
Students are not permitted to:
- Leave the teach lóistín after 10:00p.m.
- Leave the jurisdiction of the Coláiste at any time of the day.
- Enter licensed premises, or have any dealings with alcohol.
- Breach of safety regulations regarding swimming/road safety.
Breach of any of the above rules will result in dismissal
Breach of other rules such as non co-operation, smoking, or bad
behaviour will be dealt with by the Árd Mháistir who will not hesitate
to contact parents if it is deemed necessary.
Bullying:
The problem of bullying can arise on occasion.
While staff and bean a’tí would be on the lookout for such activity,
Bullying is often conducted away from the gaze of supervising adults. Parents are urged to strongly instruct
their child in the event that he/she in any way feels intimidated or is uneasy with any particular aspect of
his/her stay in the Gaeltacht to;
- contact home and inform parents of concerns
- inform bean a’ tí or a member of staff
The Ardmháistir will discreetly investigate all such matters and inform parents of the outcome.
