Where feasible, communication between parents and students should incorporate as much Gaeilge as possible. This would have a positive effect on students and would greatly reinforce the concept of sending your child on a cúrsa Gaeilge in the first place.
Students should be advised by parents to write home a few times during the course.
The name and address of the student’s teach lóistín will be forwarded before the course commences. Please address all correspondence to your child using the following format:
Students Name, e.g. Siobhán Ní Néill,
name of Bean a’ tí, f/ch Bríd Uí Chualáin,
Address of teach lóistín., Cor na Rón,
Co. na Gaillimhe
In general, communication by telephone should be kept to a minimum.
Overuse of the telephone can have an unsettling effect on students who are away from home and
participating in a a cúrsa Gaeilge.
Parents will be supplied with the following numbers in the final correspondence:
• phone number of the Coláiste at which students can be contacted.
• a strictly emergency only number (24 hours)
Students should be contacted in the teach lóistín in urgent cases only. The teach lóistín’s number can be obtained during the course by contacting the Coláiste.
Students may make phone calls from a payphone in the Coláiste.
